Yo.
My name is Dean, what's yours? That's cool, nice to meet you.
I'm 20 and live in New York City & Cooper City, Florida. Yes, both. I go to school in New York City. I'm a Junior at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts majoring in Film & Television. I'm still a legal resident of Cooper City, FL, though. It's all the way South down there by Fort Lauderdale and Miami. I graduated from Cooper City High in 2008.
People who know me from home know me as "that kid from CTV" (as evidenced by my screen name which I've decided never to change). CTV is Cooper City High's award-winning TV show that I was president of in 07-08. It pretty much took over my life there for a while and I wouldn't want it any other way.
When most kids go to college, they try and throw away their old lives. They move to a new city, call it their home, and never look back. I'm not like that. I love New York, but I had a lot of fun in Cooper City and I try to make it back there as much as possible. Generally I spend 4-6 months of the year there so I really do live in two places.
Sidenote- I hate living in two places. I hate traveling. I hate not having what I want in the place I am currently in. But it's worth it to get the most for my future without throwing away my past. :)
Speaking of the future, I'm majoring in Film & TV because I love making videos and have my whole life. But while my awesome, supportive friends from home see me on film sets making multi-million dollar movies in the coming years, they're going to be disappointed because I don't want to make movies, I want to work in TV. I don't even really like movies. They're too long. I get made fun of consistently for being the only film student in the world who hasn't seen most "classics," but I like TV and want to eventually work for one of the big networks.
Right now (November 2010 since I tend not to update this bio) I'm interning at MTV Networks at their headquarters in Times Square. It's an amazing company and I love it there (they own Nick, Comedy Central, Spike, VH1, TV Land, and a million others). Next semester, starting in January 2011, I'll be interning for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon at the NBC headquarters in Rockefeller Center.
I also maintain this website, deandagati.com, as a place to post blogs, photos & videos, and to keep my two lives in Cooper City and New York a little bit closer together.
I love to hear from anyone who checks out the site, so whether you found this website from Tumblr or YouTube, you're a current or former student from Cooper or NYU, shoot me an e-mail at deandagati@nyu.edu with anything you want to know and I'll hit you back!
Click the links throughout this bio for a good time.
